The Voices of Nature body of work springs from the animate presence within a bit of wood or material asking to become art; the inspiration giving voice to aspects of growth, transformation, and change. Each of these found objects or natural elements has clambored for artistic attention to reveal a perspective of archetypal elegance inherent in all existence. Madrone, a dense wood with smooth burgundy skin, is often featured – carved, shaped, and worked to bring out its sensuality. Antler, stone, bone, found objects and even gemstones may find their way into an individual piece. Sometimes treated with stains and polish or gold leaf and paint, each piece sets the course, being worked until whole once again.

The Through Eyes of Myth a Voice is Heard installation which explored the nature of storytelling and tools of the storyteller was the genesis of some of the Voices of Nature body of work and it has continued to grow as materials bearing such inspiration continue to arise.
